Yesterday we went to Devon Intermediate to play a league tournament. We played against 4 other school teams, Hawera Intermediate, Devon Intermediate, Francis Douglas, Bell Block.
The reason that I think we won is that we worked great as a team. For example we listened to the captain, spread out on the field, and shared the ball around to all of the players. We tried our hardest to make meters by pushing forward to get a try. On defence we tried to tackle low and not high.
This is a great start to your description Jamie. I really like the way you are adding detail to your writing by giving examples. For example you explain how you all worked as a team (include your coach and any supporters). Here are your next steps:

2. Read the sentences where I've underlined the verbs went and tried. Think of more descriptive and varied action verbs to use in these sentences.
3. Explain how you worked to make metres for example: "... by driving our legs hard when we ran into the opposition."
4. Write the next part of your report. Include three or more of your favourite highlights from the tournament.
