History by the Decade 1980s

Here is an example of the research we are finishing about world history:
Space Shuttle
The first ever Space Shuttle was launched in the 1980s. It was different from previous space ships. After it re-entered earths atmosphere it would land on an airstrip like an aeroplane. This was unlike older space ships which would splash down in the ocean. This meant that it could be used again and again.
This space shuttle was named the Challenger after a British sailing ship that was used to explore the world and discovering new things. It received its name because the Space Shuttle was also a ship for exploring and discovering but instead of travelling in the sea this ship travelled in space. On its first mission the astronauts completed a space walk. A space walk is when astronauts leave their ship and float in space. They have a rope-type thing that stops them from floating away.
